Privacy at Gurbani Updesh
Updated September 19, 2026
Gurbani Updesh provides a free recording library and moderated community conversations. You do not need an account to listen or browse.
Listening and downloads
The mobile app stores playlists, listening positions, preferences, and downloaded recordings on your device. Cached collection listings help you browse previously opened collections when connectivity is limited. The app does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. Your device backup settings may include local app data; downloaded media is excluded from backup.
Conversations and reports
If you submit a message, we receive your display name and message. An admin reviews it before it becomes public. Approved messages and replies are visible on the website and in the app. Please do not include private contact details or other sensitive information in a public message. Reports of inappropriate content are private and visible to administrators.
We use network information, including a salted hash of the submitting IP address, to limit spam and enforce administrator blocks. An opaque author identifier lets app users hide messages from a sender without exposing the IP address. People sharing a network may be affected by the same moderation block.
Service providers and technical records
Our website, API and media hosting providers process requests needed to deliver the service. Those requests include your IP address and the requested page or recording. Server logs and moderation records may be retained for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Your choices
You can remove playlists and downloads in the app, hide community senders, and report messages. To request removal of a public message or other information you submitted, email us with the conversation link or enough detail to locate it. We may need to verify the request. We retain community content while it remains useful to the conversation, unless removed through moderation or an appropriate deletion request; security records may be kept where needed to prevent abuse.
